The RCC Jazz Ensembles have experienced tremendous success, including the program growing to seven bands, with four student jazz bands meeting during the day, and three community-based groups meeting in the evening. This year the RCC Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble were both 2025 winners in the Downbeat Magazine competition for Community College Large Jazz Ensemble. Downbeat also awarded RCC Combo Blue an outstanding performance award and trumpeter George Ramos an outstanding performer award. The Jazz Orchestra also received awards for outstanding performance in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2016. This year RCC jazz students collaborated with guest artists Bill Reichenbach, Alex Iles, Frank Fontaine, and Bob McChesney.
