Catering
Information–
(INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
“Catering”
or “Banquet”? What’s the difference?
A
“catered” event takes place outside the restaurant or catering
facility and usually requires additional costs such as rentals and
labor.
This type of event may take place at your home, park, business
office or wedding hall.
A
“banquet” event takes place at the restaurant or catering facility
and menu costs will normally include labor and all required service
elements.
If
it is a banquet you are looking for and not a catering, please refer
to our banquet menu section for menu costs and room accommodations.
For catering, follow along with the section below.
OK,
I Need A Caterer…
Where
do you start when considering a caterer? Have you been left with the
arduous task of selecting a caterer for the company holiday event,
last minute luncheon, or the big wedding for 250? You’re not alone.
We
often receive calls from customers who need to make decisions based
solely on generic pricing information and menu selections because they
don’t know what they want or what they can afford. Time is often
critical and appointments not always convenient, “so just fax me the
info and I’ll decide for myself”!
Unfortunately,
the generic information provided is usually just that. Most of us will
end up customizing a menu based on theme, diet needs, even venue (what
can actually be prepared may depend on the facilities in your home or
hall) and of course, price. This takes some time to figure out and the
basic packages don’t always cover such specific information.
So,
how do you find out which caterer has the right combination of price
and quality? One sure way to start is to try the food; if they won’t
let you try it, DON”T BUY IT!
At
Mario’s Place, we are happy to provide you with a tasting
appointment so you can measure the quality and value for yourself. The
tasting menu will be determined after an initial meeting where we can
discuss the basic details of your event…
The
following is our basic layout of services and menus available for
outside catering events. We hope this information will be helpful but
we encourage you to speak with our catering coordinator who will be
more than happy to discuss your event and what Mario’s Place can
offer.
Service
Options
Do
you want the convenience and comfort of table service or is it a more
casual event you’re after where full-service is not such a concern?
Mario’s
Place offers 3 basic options:
“Full-Service”
food
will be prepared fresh on-site and a professional wait staff provides
table service, set up and most important, clean up service of entire
event is covered with this option.
“Station
Service”
food may or may not be prepared on site and stations (i.e., salad,
pasta, dessert) will be set up for guests to basically eat at their
leisure. Minimal service staff is required for this type of event and
table service is usually not provided. With this option, clean up is
limited to the areas we occupy for food and prep only.
“Hors
d’oeuvres or Cocktail Service”
for events which involve only appetizers and beverage services. Food
items are typically passed by wait staff or can be set up on a display
table where little to no service staff is required.
